A luxurious and welcoming barn conversion

It all began when I mentioned to a yoga teacher that we had started to convert a barn but it was standing empty and unfinished. This conversation was the catalyst to our opening in late 2020 and what you see today.

Initially designed as a yoga retreat space, it’s also the perfect location for family getaways, walking retreats and cycling retreats. For a full list of the Barn’s conveniences and comforts, visit our Amenities page.

The Stretton Hills, the Stiperstone Nature Reserve and the National Trust’s Carding Mill Valley are only down the road. It’s also only 15 minutes’ drive from the picturesque medieval county town of Shrewsbury.

Pre-book your local food delivery

My friend Sarah runs our local shop Shropshire’s Own in neighbouring Longden, stocking lots of wonderful Shropshire goodies including milk, cheese and meats.

Part farm shop, part village store, you’ll find virtually anything you need and lots of things you’ll want. To make up and pre-order a breakfast hamper or have food delivered to the Barn, visit Shropshire’s Own’s website

Remember to add a bit of Shropshire’s Upper Oaks fudge for a hit of sweetness and joy in a tiny cube. This can be ordered from the Upper Oaks site or added to a delivery from Shropshire’s Own.

Also highly recommended, Cheese Nibbles is owned by Shropshire caterer Ed Potter. You can have meals delivered to the Barn – everything from fine dining to ready meals, nibbles and fresh produce boxes. To place an order, visit the website

Arrive at Black Lion Barn to a stocked fridge and food ready to heat!
